2010 Membership Survey

Hello fellow TBC members. Here at long last are the results of the TBC survey which was conducted over the summer months of 2010. We have been a bit delayed in presenting this information to you but, as you can imagine, it was quite a task to collate so many different and interesting responses. We would like to thank everyone who participated and we hope that you will all continue to stay involved as we proceed with the OurTBC project. We have put the information together according to the questions asked on the survey: what the membership would like to see happen in 1 year, in 3 years, what changes to TBC are seen as desirable, how members are currently contributing, how they could see themselves contributing in future, and how they would like to stay engaged in the process. We have broken down these questions to show the various areas of interest expressed by the answers we received, separating out the financial concerns, the Zone concerns, the continued interest in TBC events, and how you would like to see TBC meet your needs. We have also noted how many surveys we received and where they came from.

Several main trends are apparent: Mainstage continues to be a vital component of what members value in TBC; members want TBC to be a resource provider and communication center; there is a need for TBC to be financially responsible and transparent in its financial operations; and we want our organization to feel friendly and inclusive, reaching out to youth members, our theatre clubs, and our communities. Some of these areas are already being addressed and others have room for growth. We have a lot of suggestions and offers that we will be following up on in the months leading up to Mainstage 2011.

We would like to ask you to follow the link provided to the survey results on the TBC website. Take a look at the results we have compiled and ask yourselves if we got it right. Did we hear what you have to say? Are we going to be focusing on the areas of greatest concern? For zones which may feel under-represented, do you have anything to add? You can send further comments to ciz@theatrebc.org. Once we know that we have correctly identified the areas most important to members we will be asking clubs and zones to brainstorm further on how best to improve the services TBC can offer.

Once again, thank you very much for your input and remember: as the membership WE are TBC and it will be as great an organization as WE make it.
